This is a day to day picture of my eye. Normal days for redness.
This is a picture of my eye during allergy season and boy....does it hurt!In both pictures you can see the pyterygium growing in the blue part of my eye getting close to the pupil. They will continue to grow and will affect your vision. For years, my eyes have been painful like sand is scratching my eye, dry, and ugly red. I went to the doctor a few weeks back since my vision was finally being affected. After the examine, the doctor said they are slowly growing towards my pupil, but since i have 20/20 vision and no stigatism in either of my eyes she won't do any surgery to remove the pyterygiums at this time. She was very confident that my vision issues were being caused by the dryness and recommended Optive eye drops 2 - 4 times a day. I had told myself it will help the dryness, but I'm sure my eyes will stay red.
I woke up about a week ago and saw this. No more RED! I am soooo happy! My eyes feel much better. I am thrilled that they aren't red anymore. I also don't look a mom with a heroin problem anymore. I haven't seen my eyes white for about 6 years. My make up will finally match! Yipee! For my brother, here's proof...you have to get the drops.

Wow, great news.
That is wonderful Lora! You feel so much better, I bet! The way you describe things, you really should've been in the medical field. Is that stuff OTC?

Wow, they look GREAT!!! I'll make sure Dave gets some! maybe everyone will stop thinking he's such a pot head! hahaha
and by the way, my family is obsessed with your steam cleaner! There has been extensive research to see if we can rent them somewhere. and talk of everyone going in together to get one to share. you've really started a buzz in the cornu/mcpherson/shaw household!
Horray, horray, horray! Looks great! Remember when I was your peon and we went to the UW health center and they told you that's what was up with your eyes and we had to practice saying "pterygium" cause it started with a P and it was confusing? :) We told everyone in the office that's what it was and said "pterygium" with such enhtusiasm, I think they all knew about it by the end of the day!
oh...brittany! those were the best working days ever. i totally forgot that story.....memories.
sarah...i LOVE my machine. i told anson if we go home, we must let sarah and david borrow it. we were planning on it. the best machine ever!!!
Yay for the doctors and most especially Yay for you!!!
i've been meaning to ask you how it was all going. i'll think about it randomly and then get side tracked and forget to ask! sorry! i'm glad the drops have been working!
btw - eeewwwww!!!!! it makes my eyes water just looking at that 2nd picture.
I can totally relate. I have the same thing but only on my right eye. I was given fantastic drops called tresemoline which I was prescribed. They are now done and the doc will not prescribe me some more. Is that drop that you mentioned available over the counter. I am a South African citizen and struggle hugely with my eye. People always comment on how I look like im stoned and always ask what is wrong with your eye. I have also had people say I cant look at it it looks so sore. I have a pterygium!
