(Camden't 1st Birthday)
I remember Verlin aka Grandpa Hatch loved to eat Peanut M&M's, Skittles and sour cream potato chips and sometimes sharing them with you.

I remember Verlin sitting at the head of their LONG table in the kitchen eating dinner with his family. Most times he wouldn't say much, but just listen to the many conversations occurring with his children. A lot of the stories were about him and the fun and crazy things he had done in the past. Great stories!

I remember he was always ready to start a game of Rook with anyone who would play. He also loved to play a game of chess with his boys. He could play games all day and well into the evening. He loved, loved playing games.
I remember taking trips to Lake Powell. We would do this by driving a huge motor home towing a boat. I was always very impress he could drive that much length behind him with no problem. I remember how excited he would get five o'clock in the morning that the water is "glass," not a wave or a ripple could be seen. He had to get to the water while it was in "glass" form. Perfect for water skiing. He could water ski forever.

I remember his rough and hard hands from all of the hard work he would do with either construction or car mechanics and rebuilds. Anytime you drove up to the house there would be a new wrecked car(s) in the drive way waiting in line to be repaired, refinished and ready to resale.

I remember his love for snow. Verlin collected several snowmobiles and would take any opportunity to head to the mountains with his family. I do have to say, he was crazy though. He would choose the steepest hill/mountain and gun the snowmobile up the side as far as he could and sometimes reaching the top and shooting into the air above the mountain and then turn around and head down. There were a few times that he came tumbling down the hill. He was "crazy" about his snowmobiling.

I remember how he was a very faithful temple worker at the Mt. Timpanogos temple in American Fork.
I remember that Verlin would always attend his church meetings and fulfill his callings to the best of his ability. Just a few years back, he was called to serve as a nursery leader. Verlin had a couple favorite scriptures that he tried to live by. Mosiah 2:17 "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."
Proverbs 3: 5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

I remember how much he loved to watch movies either at home or in the theater. He always had his Skittles or M&M's by his side.

I remember how much he enjoyed having his whole family home with their spouses and children during the holidays. The Rook and chess games would begin and outings to the movies. Family fun!

Those are great memories! Thanks again for sharing. It has made this day a bit easier to bear to see that you remember him fondly. My love to all of your family.
Lora,
Thanks for sharing photos and memories of dad. You did a great job at putting thoughts I had into words. It is always fun to look back and see all the great things about him.
Very beautifully written.
I liked the comment about "sometimes" sharing his treats. He wasn't always very generous with his treats!
Fun memories and pictures.
Abby
