Last night it finally happened. Sydney lost her first tooth! During the last minutes of the process of loosing her tooth, her mood would go from a happy moment trying to get the tooth out into a panic "I don't want it out" moment. It was barely hanging on, so we were encouraging her to keep wiggling. Once the bottom of the tooth was exposed, I got some dental floss and showed her how she could put the string under her tooth and lift the string up to the sky to pop the tooth out. After three tries and my help on the last attempt, it came out followed by a lot of tears. After about thirty seconds, the tears stopped and she was thrilled! I caught this cute picture of Sydney looking in the mirror the first time with out her tooth.
Once her tooth came out, we realized that the neighboring tooth was just as loose and told her to wiggle it out so the tooth fairy can pick up two teeth in one night. She told us very firmly, "I'm done for the night! Leave my tooth alone!" So that is what we did. She put her tooth under her pillow in a purple silk pouch. She was so excited and had several questions about the tooth fairy. Will she wake me up? What does she look like? How big is she? Will she take my purple silk pouch? Today she woke up to the purple silk pouch filled with a 1$ bill, a quarter, dime, nickle and a penny. "One of each she said!"
Second story. This morning I tried to convince her to pull that other tooth out so she wouldn't lose it at school. But she said,"No way! Leave my tooth alone! I don't care if I lose it at school!" When I picked her up from school today, it was so loose that I bribed her with a McDonald's ice cream if she would pull it out when we got there. She wiggled and worked on that tooth for the 2.5 miles. I parked the car and said, "OK, is it out?" She said, "No it's not. I don't want ice cream anymore." I said, "Let's try one more time." With a lot thought and fear in her face and eyes, she said, "OK, but don't make it hurt." With one little bump, it almost came out. It was dangling. She got brave and pulled that wiggly tooth out on her own. She was so proud and happy with herself!

When we got home, we did a quick wiggle inventory in her mouth and she has three more on the way. She asked me, "How will I eat if I loose all my teeth?"

There you have it! Another first for our family.

WOW Sydney! Goodbye baby teeth!
Sydney is much braver than I was. I think my mom had to work on me quite a bit for all my teeth, and I don't think I ever did pull out any of my own.

Loved hearing about you loosing your baby teeth. I'm glad the tooth fairy was able to visit you.

Way to go Sydney!!! You'd better slow down!! The tooth fairy may run out of money!!!
So fun! I love it when you capture those special moments on camera!
How exciting! She sure is looking more grown up and mature!
Congrats, Sydney! I like your new look! M's teeth fell out in quick order, kind of like yours, but then they slowed waaaaaay down and now she's antsy to have another loose tooth, but it will probably still be awhile before her molars start coming out.
Our tooth fairy leaves the $1 gold Sacajawea dollars...and M always leaves a note for her, asking her to please leave the tooth for M, as she collects them, too! So far, the TF has been nice and left both the tooth and the money!
YAY SYDNEY!!!!!
im so excited for you.
i can't wait to come home and see your new teeth. miss you.
love you, meaghan.
