We go to Utah for Christmas every year and for the last 3 I have encouraged my family to help me build a snowman....a really BIG snowman. I would have to say last year's was the best and biggest yet! 12 feet tall and really, really heavy. I think it is fun to see how big we can get them and every year they get a little bigger and taller. It takes a lot of work, but the results are awesome and people love to drive by to check our big snowman out. Our big friend has even made it in the newspaper.

To build our big friend, we roll the body/base as far as we can using four adults until it is too heavy to move.

Next, we roll the middle section of the snowman. We got smart last year and used wood beams to roll the section up onto the base. It was so heavy that we broke the wood and had to get more. The first year I remember we tried to lift the snowball and think a couple of us almost died.

The head, even though it is smaller than the rest, it is still really heavy and hard to get to the top. Again, we got smart last year and rolled the head the night before, left overnight to freeze solid and then used a ice saw to cut it into three sections. It was so much easier and safer to move.

Then we placed the 3 sections of the head on top into place, decorate and give the her/him a face and we have ourselves a big snowman!

I am so totally impressed!!!! I have to say though I am very sad that our special night of the dump trucks and boots was never included in your blog. I will be taking pictures of our bizarro night next year as proof that it existed. Hmmm!!!
Wow Lora - this is amazing!!! Do you think you can arange for us to build one in our court this Christmas? Come on - I know you can do it!
Your snowman is aweaome. For three days on and off I have been building the biggest snoman of my life - I'm 30. And yes its still fun at this age,
I'm trying to build the biggest possible one I can. Picked up some invaluable tips so I had to post.
Thanks for the great post
"art"? this isn't an art
