This was the first time in 32 years I didn't have Thanksgiving dinner with my parents. They are temporally living in Cebu, Philippines for the next year and half for my dad's job. It was different to not have them with us, but we survived. The food didn't taste quite the same, but it was still good. My favorite Thanksgiving dessert is cherry pie that my mom makes. Well, I had to try to make one myself. This was also a first...I made my first pie! It turned out ok, not exactly like my mom's but I was proud that I attempted to make it.

Your pie looks wonderful! My first pie was a strawberry rhubarb and my roommate's boyfriend ate the middle out of it before I could serve it to my guests. I was very upset with him :-(

I didn't know your parents were gone! All I associate Cebu, Phillipines w/are the mangos from Costco...now I have a better association. Will they be home for Christmas at all?
