My sweet Sydney has asked me EVERYDAY for the past 3 months "Is today kindergarten?" And everyday I have to tell her "No, not yet in about 90 sleeps." We do the same routine everyday. Sometimes she will say "I don't have kindergarten today, but I do in 3 sleeps." I always have to correct her "sleeps" and she gets very discouraged. The poor girl is so excited about something that is soooo far away. Since Sydney's birthday is in December, she missed the California kindergarten cutoff and going to school with most of her friends. She will have completed 3 years of preschool by the time she starts. She has always been very aware that almost all of her preschool and church friends are in kindergarten and she's not. We are all excited that she will be starting August 4th at the TLC.

Since she has been having a hard time knowing how long approximately 90 days are I decided to make a paper chain. After I made it I realized that I could have found a different way to count down the days because it is one long chain. After hanging up the chain by her room, she took one look with a big breath and sighed while saying, "Mommy, this is going to take for ever to go to kindergarten." I think the paper chain got the point across. Like I said we are very excited for Sydney to start. She has gone to the wonderful LL Preschool for several years. They have taught her everything she needs to know to start her new chapter of growing up. Sydney knows her letters, the sound each letter makes, how to write each letter, how to blend and read words, and the sign language sign for each letter. This girl is ready to go! My Sydney is growing up!!!

It reminds me of when Corinna started...She's now in 8th grade. Where does the time go?!
