1-year and 2-months later.....(quick update)

(quick entry. it's not complete and full of errors. just wanted to post for the grandparents.)

Here we are again and Sydney is not happy about it at all. 1-year and 2 months ago post? On Tuesday, Sydney was having what I call a "tough asthma day." I wasn't too worried since we have those days often and she is usually fine. Sydney had a doctors appointment that afternoon and things did not go quite as planned. As we were waiting to meet with the doctor, she started having an asthma attack so they sent us upstairs to the peds. department. I was pretty sure they were going to give her a quick treatment and we would be back downstairs for the rest of our appointment.

The doctor gave her three nebulizer treatments in which every treatment opened her lungs more which caused her blood oxygen to drop which was making it very hard for Sydney to breathe. The magic number to be able to walk out of the clinic is 92% and with no breathing struggles. Sydney's was below 92% and was laboring for air so we were transported to the hospital to be admitted. Sydney was not excited at all. There were a lot of tears and anger that she was going to miss her friends, school and have to be poked with needles.

Once we arrived and Sydney was settled in, it was very apparent that we should be at the hospital for her safety. He blood oxygen dipped into the mid 80% with 3 liters of oxygen assistance and abulteral treatments every 2 hours. She also started not looking so well anymore either.

Sydney has received A LOT of medicine to help her lungs that make her very shaky, hyper and moody. Wow....she is not happy at moments and at others too happy.

She was finally able to get her hands to coroperate with her and not shake so she could draw. Overall she has been a good little girl considering how she is feeling. We won't be coming home for several more days since she is still needing oxygen and nebulizer treatments every two hours. The doctor also thinks there might be some fluid in her left lung they need to watch. It looks like we won't be home until Saturday since she has to be off of assisted oxygen for a 24-hour period.

P.S. Sydney LOVEs their chicken finger and yummy french fries. She orders this meal last visit to the hospital and for every meal.
