Sweet Sydney!

I just love this little girl of mine. She so sweet and kind to her friends and loves to help with little toddlers in a mothering way. Sydney is always trying to do what is right and her very best at dance, piano and at home. She gets up in the morning most times on her own to get ready for school, makes her bed without being asked, brushes her teeth and gets dressed.

She always tries to do her very best at school. She loves school and loves to learn. For the past several months all of the children in her class have been preparing for their schools 1st Spelling Bee in mid-June. The winner gets to have lunch with the Director of the school. Sydney VERY badly wants to at least make the top 10 out of 120 students. She has lots of self pressure and worries about doing well. It makes me so nervous for her because I know how badly she wants to do well. So I do the best I can at playing the spell bee low key. Here is one of Sydney's weekly spelling tests. I can not believe the words she has learned to spell! I will be honest with you, when I'm running through the words with her she often corrects me on how to say a few of the tricky ones. Here are a few others she has learned to spell: precipice, auditorium, paradoxical, spaghetti, quivery, custodian, debris, obedience, monotonous, lacquer, centigram, leprechaun, chimpanzee, cologne, etc..

I am amazed how well all the students are doing with spelling and everything else they learn in that classroom. I am continually amazed by the challenging curriculum at TLC and how much Sydney and her classmates absorb. If you give the kids an opportunity to try, it is truly amazing what little ones are capable of.
