Grandparents this is for you. I'm throwing in a post out of order to update you on your Sydney.

Today is a big day. The semi-finals for the K-1 spelling bee! Sydney has been reviewing her tough words over and over the past several weeks and is pretty excited that the big spelling bee event is finally here.

To be honest neither Anson or myself wanted to attend. Way too stressful and who wants to see your child be
disappointed. We actually didn't plan on attending thinking that would help reduce any nerves Sydney might have, but she asked us to come and watch.

So we did! Both Anson and I thought it was the longest hour and half. You just wanted all the kids to do well and of course our Sydney. She seemed much better off than we were. The room was filled with many parents with all the same feelings. Round one started with 55 students (every student). Sydney's first word "joke". Round two 39 students. Sydney's second word "lacquer". Round three 14 students. Sydney's third word "requirement." Round four 12 students. Sydney's fourth word "leprechaun." Round five 12 students. Sydney's
fifth word "chimpanzee."

By the end of round five, they had their top ten students who would be competing in the spelling bee final next Friday against the other k-1 class. Sydney was very happy.

Sydney, we are very proud of you! Great Job!

Yay Sydney! Congratulations!
I'm sure you were nervous, but really, come on, Sydney is a super star! I would have placed money on her making the top 10!
I feel as nervous as you do for her next round of competition. Sydney, congratulations for winning a real medal in the spelling competition.
