What do we do everyday?

This is what we do everyday at least 2 times a day. Sometimes 4 to 6 times a day. Sydney hates getting her breathing treatments or rescue medicines, but she is tolerating it much better since she was last hospitalized. She does NOT want to go back she tells me. Each treatment can take up to 10 to 18 minutes depending what medicine she is taking. She gets a lot of reading, writing stories, Leapster game playing and TV done during her treatments.

I have posted about her hospitalizations, but never her daily struggles. Last night is a good example. She was up at 12:30 a.m., 3:30, 4:20, 5:50 and 6:15 struggling with her asthma needing rescue treatments each time. We went to the doctor this morning, but she seemed to be doing better so she was allowed to go to school if she wanted. She's Sydney so, of course, she wanted to be at school even though she didn't get a good nights sleep and I offered her TV and junk food. I let her go knowing that the teachers would call if she needed any help. I got the call around 1:20 and off I went to give her another treatment. By the time school was over and we were home, she was in need of another one. So here we are. I'm sure we will have several more treatments tonight and through the night.

Asthma is definitely part of her life and gets in the way at times. I'm very grateful for good doctors, good medicine and a good little girl who is willing to work hard being healthy. My job is to keep her breathing and I will!
