Our 4th of July!

We had a fun opportunity to help plan, execute and be part of the city parade this year. Our friends, Laura and Brent, manage the Reich's Medical Supply and decided to be an entry in this years parade. Sydney was so excited to find out that she was going to be in a parade. She kept saying, "This is going to be the best day of my life." So, thanks Brent for making Sydney's dream come true.
Friday night both families and a few helpers showed up at the store 6:00 p.m. to help get everything ready for the big day. Scooters needed to be decorated, signs needed to be made and about 300 balloons needed to be blown up.

Look at all of those balloons! So, why did we need 300 balloons? We came up with the cutest idea to do for the parade entry. The movie "UP".

Brent was our old man, Ethan is our scout, and Chase is our talking dog. The very cool thing about doing the parade was that Brent could hear little kids as he passed by say, "Look, it's UP!" Kids and adults understood our theme!

Several of us followed behind on the scooters and handed out Otter Pops and Frisbees. The Otter Pops were a big hit and brought big smiles to the kids.

Like I said before, Sydney was thrilled with the idea of being in the parade and loved handing out the treats to the kids. She also loved waving to everyone. I loved riding the scooter which could go 9 mph! Very fun, but surprisingly a little tricky to drive!
Camden on the other hand was a little shy. He was pretty quite during the parade and didn't want to wave or look at anyone. He like sitting on Anson lap and just sat back for the ride.

Here's a picture of Camden at the end of the parade. He said, "I'm done and tired." He wouldn't even look at the camera. I think it was a little overwhelming for him to have all those eyes on him.

At the end of the parade, all of the balloons were cut off of the van and the kids gave balloons away to anyone who wanted one. The parade was a great way to start 4th of July for our family and extremely fun.

A huge thank you to Brent and Laura for letting us be apart of the parade with them. I know that Anson, myself and kids had a great time.

Sounds like you had a good time. The 9 mph scooter sounds a lot better than the stilts I used to traverse the 2 miles of the Ricks College Homecoming Parade a LONG TIME AGO!

Thanks for sharing your 4th with us as the 4th here was the most regular, go-to-work, watch the maid clean the house, day you could imagine. We did remember it was the 4th and talked about having a wild and crazy celebration but then remember the ticket and fine Frank got last year for lighting a single fire cracker and age took over and we retired to watch CIS: Miami.
