Sydney's 6 1/2 Birthday Party!

Yes, Sydney had a 6 1/2 years old birthday party. For the last few years since we have lived in this home, Sydney has always asked if she could have a swimming birthday party. And every time she asks, I have to say no because her birthday is in December. So this year I told her she could have a half birthday party. Since there was so much going on in June we decided for July which makes it her half birthday plus one month.

She wanted to invited a few friends from school and a few from church. It was a great turn out. Sydney also understood that we were going to have a "no gift" party since her friends gave presents on her actual birthday 6 months ago. I thought she would be disappointed, but she wasn't. She was just really excited that she was having a "Swimming Half Birthday Party."

Sydney woke up extremely excited the day of her party. She seemed just excited as if i was her real birthday. I made her a chocolate heart shaped cake per her request. I cut the cake in half for the half birthday and put 6 "point" 5 candles on the cake.

She loved it! We sang "Happy half birthday to you. Happy half birthday to you...etc."

Since it was a half birthday, we (her parents and grandparents) had to give her a gift. A new bike that fits her. She was very excited and loves the color.

So there you have it. Here is my 6.5 year old little girl who loves life, friends, school, family, swimming and does most things with a cute toothless smile. It's hard to believe that "7" is right around the corner. Happy Half Birthday Sydney!

We did a 1/2 birthday for Rachel last year too...and are planning another for in a couple of weeks. So much easier when we have 3 December birthdays. I love the 6 point 5...I may have to use that!

That looks like so much fun! I love the cute cake. I also love the idea of celebrating in the summer... both my boys have winter birthdays and it tends to limit our party possibilities.
