Last week was the sick house for our family. Sydney started off with a lot of wheezing followed by getting strep throat for the first time. It was spreading like a wild fire in her class. Her school had 32 kindergartners/1st graders (they are combined classes) out for either strep throat or the throw ups.
In the meantime, Anson and I both got sinus infections and quickly following behind was Camden with strep, his first time also. It was a rough week, but we made it. Camden decided he needed a little more attention and started getting wheezy at church. We were giving him treatments every two hours. He didn't mind at first and liked that he was like Sydney.
Well after his forth treatment in eight hours, his enthusiasm and energy level dropped. Each treatment lasts about 12-15 minutes and can be annoying. As I was walking past the living room I found him board out of his mind with the mask over his eye. We told Camden that the treatment won't work unless it is over his nose and mouth even though he knows this, but he didn't respond and just gave me this goofy face. He is such a goof!
The every two hour treatments lasted well into the night and the following day. Here is a picture of Camden getting a treatment around midnight sound asleep and unaware. Not being able to breathe well can make you crabby and sleepy. The following morning we took him to the doctor and he was put on steroids to help with the inflammation in his lung tissue. He responded very well. Now we are just dealing with the side affects of the steroids. Being a hungry, hyper, moody, hungry, hyper, hyper, hyper, hyper little boy. (Yes, I know I repeated a couple words. Steroids can turn your child into a "special" child.) We are glad he is feeling better, but we would like Camden to be Camden and strive to be like his sister in a different way.
